Reduce Misinformation and Negative Information on Social Media

In the past few years, misinformation has been making headlines around the world, China has not been exempt from this problem. Misinformation can cause a host of problems for a nation such as damaging trust in institutions and causing unwanted behaviours or reactions in the population. In China’s first Nudgeathon, we partnered with RELAY, a private organisation of second-generation entrepreneurs to combat misinformation and negative information on social media. Participants sought to identify factors in social media posts and cognitive biases that may cause people to share information of questionable accuracy. Interventions were then designed specifically to target these issues.
