Prompting Conversation About Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is the third most common type of cancer in UK males. Due to its slow development, it may not show any symptoms for years. Once it does, it is no longer curable, so early detection becomes critical. Men who are 50 or older are especially at risk and they may often have trouble bringing up the issue with their GPā€™s because of misconceptions related to the tests used to detect this cancer and their apprehension of physical examinations. Knowing this, participants harnessed behavioural insights holistically to create an environment within GP practices that would facilitate uncomfortable conversations and to develop nudges to encourage men at risk to talk to their GPā€™s.
